Earn Money From Home While Doing What You Love

There’s been much talk and a lot of excitement about the opportunities to work at home. If you browse the internet, the possibilities seem endless, so much so, that you don’t know where to start or even what suits you best. If there’s anything that characterizes the 21st century, it’s having too much information. So if you want to jump in the bandwagon and start a home based business, how do you select what to do? Simple, do what you enjoy.

There’s a very popular saying that goes ‘if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life’. And this was not to encourage any couch potato. In the old days, earning money meant going out of your way to learn a skill and toiling hard at it. Now, just about anything can be turned into a successful business. And the best ideas are not the ones that need a lot of prompting or days of concentrated thought. If you love what you do, you can work less and still earn more than if you were just going with the flow.

Ask any successful home based business owner what their secret is and they’ll tell you that they are doing what makes them happy and gets them motivated. Going by this point, anyone interested in starting work at home should seriously think about what kind of work they enjoy and are good at. What are you hobbies? If you were asked to select a task that you wouldn’t mind attending to at any given time, what will it be? Asking yourself these questions will in turn make you realize where your motivation lies.

Do you like pets? Then how about starting an animal day care centre, or if you want to be more specific, a dog day care centre? This is an ideal occupation for an animal lover, not only because she will be in much loved company but keeping pets is good for the soul in general.

Establishing a Business Image Through Advertising

1. It is always a good thing mentioning the deadline of your offer. It is common knowledge that people literally hate to know that they are missing out on something. Therefore mentioning a deadline will make them more/ less compelled to act. E.g. ‘Hurry- competition closes next Saturday! Call/Visit/Email today to reserve your place. Make sure that the customer knows how to contact you and try to make it a few different ways.

2. ‘Hurry- competition closes next Friday! Call/Visit/Email today to ensure you don’t miss out!" Ensure that you tell the customer how to contact you and try to make it a few different ways.

3. Submit your advert. Put yourself in the shoes of your customer. Think from their angle. For instance; what publications do they read? What websites do they visit? Try to diversify your advertising modes over a few mediums. This means that you should have both online and offline methods and will ensure that your ‘eggs are not in one basket.

4. Test your advertising and measure your responses. Before committing yourself to a large advertising budget test a few different methods to see if they work. E.g. before sending 5000 inserts into a magazine, ask them if you can send around 300 to test. If you don’t get any responses you have saved yourself a lot of money!

5. Final word. It is important to understand that advertising and marketing is an ongoing process. It isn’t just something to do a few times per year. It is advisable that at least 50% of your time be spent on advertising and marketing. After all if people don’t know about your business- how can they buy from you? It is said that people need to see your advert or brand at least 5 times before they will act upon it? So consistency is very important. Always have a monthly advertising budget. Be prepared to adjust and adapt to changing trends and marketing conditions. Keep building your momentum and keep a constant watch on it. Never Set and Forget.

Reward Yourself With A Long Weekend

Travel - Rewarding yourself with mini trips for making the correct financial decisions.

I love to travel and, my wife and I, take a few days, usually once a month or so, to take a break from the normal routine. This gives a chance to recharge and come back to work with more focus and plan the next trip.

We like to travel to a destination within a day’s drive of our home. We are lucky to live in British Columbia outside of Vancouver so that, Oregon and Washington, and the interior of British Columbia are easily accessible in a day or less. This is a great area, with plenty of interesting back roads to travel and beautiful scenery along the way, so getting there is half the fun. Planning and anticipating these mini trips is almost as much fun as taking them.

If you are on a budget you can go camping or find places at a reasonable cost to stay. With careful planning, you can have a well deserved break for a great price. We always ask for deals at the hotels where we stay, and usually get discounts of one type or another. We have jobs with flexible work schedules so we get away in non peak times, which means less crowds and better prices. We usually stay at good hotels, not the most expensive, but the ones that have good deals.

We deserve the reward, and we can afford it, because we do the right things financially day to day.

Our trip just last week was to Oregon, for a 5 day break which was a long weekend, plus a couple of banked days at work for working some extra time. Cannon Beach, Oregon is about a six hour drive. We stopped for a couple of shopping breaks along the way and took our time on the drive. Oregon does not have any sales tax which is great, and the Canadian dollar is at par with the US dollar, so shopping makes sense financially. We took the day and arrived at the hotel at about 6:00 pm, our room was ocean front as requested.

We sat back on the balcony and enjoying a couple of margaritas and listened to the surf rolling in, while the gulls cruised by on the breeze. Below is the view from the balcony, of Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach.

Alternative Medicine For Pet Intestinal Worms

One of the typical diseases to inflict household pets includes the infestation of the digestive tract by intestinal and other parasitic worms. Intestinal parasitism is likely a tricky disorder considering that no physical symptoms would indicate the intrusion of parasitic worms such as the hookworm, roundworm and whipworm. Nonetheless, if a cat or dog suffers from chronic diarrhea or is unusually sluggish despite the regular feeding of nutritious meals-while sporting a dull mane or a swollen belly, then this might just be a signal of worm infestation.

A feline or canine de-wormer constituted by anthelminthic compounds will most likely be prescribed by your veterinarian. While chemical-based treatments may be considered as effective de-wormers, veterinary drugs singly operate to neutralize the parasites lurking in your pet’s digestive tract. This method of treatment is deficient when related to the principles of holistic health care. Know that holistic approaches serve as the central paradigm in the manufacture of standardized pet herbal supplements that have now been distributed in the mainstream, following prior endorsement with the FDA.

The practice of holistic medicine has so far extended its scope to redefine the contemporary methods of veterinary health care. From the conventional and symptomatic treatment of pet diseases, the holistic philosophy steps up to the healing of your pet’s entire being which involves the aggregate treatment of corporeal and mental components that may actually be jointly responsible for the manifest of a disease.

Provide A Solid Base To Your Future With Insurance

The annuity is a contract with an insurance company in which the applicant may opt to receive cash payments on tax-deferred retirement income or an ongoing basis. There are various types of annuities which include immediate annuities, tax-deferred annuities, split annuities, college gift annuities and charitable gift annuities. Each and every annuity provides different benefits and features that will help in personal situations of the investor. The investor may be young and looking to invest for the future or he/she may be close to retirement and opt for immediate revenue.

In such cases, the split annuity will surely be beneficial for the investors as it is really a combination of a single-premium deferred annuity and a single-premium immediate annuity. The investors receive the benefits of the immediate annuity in which the policy provides you a steady stream of cash that is consistent, safe, and guaranteed, regardless of the conditions of market. The payments from the insurance company may be based on either quarterly, semi-annually, or annually basis. The choice is completely dependent on the investors. The taxes make up only 18 percent, depending on your tax bracket, of this flow of money. Thus, the taxes on the continued payments are negligible.

An additional aspect of a split annuity is the tax advantage the investor receives, which is the tax-deferred annuity portion of the agreement. The investor will be able to earn a tax-deferred growth on his or her incomes. The preliminary interest rate of return will be set for a defined period, such as one year, three years or five years. However, after that period, a new time period is laid down.

Easy Ways To Lower Your Natural Gas Consumption

More increases of natural gas have been announced and here we are, already wondering how we are going to cope with the rising costs of EVERYTHING.

We thought of some things we can all do to help the situation. These suggestions are not limited to home owners; it is just as important for everyone to be involved in environmental issues. Remember, we are all in this together and whatever we can do now will help everyone.

Ways to Decrease Natural Gas Usage.

Make sure to have your furnace serviced and cleaned, and checked for efficiency.

Turn thermostat down 2 degrees and make a point of putting on a sweater instead of turning up the heat. Use a programmable thermostat or manually turn heat down well below daytime temperature at night. A daytime temperature of 20 and down to 17 at night would save significant amounts of energy. Remember, you are under the covers and heating a whole house would be very wasteful.

Likewise, if your family is out of the house all day, turn the heat down very low until you are all home in the evening.

If you have a room, or areas of your home that are cooler than others, rather than turning up the furnace, invest in an energy efficient heater. There are some nice, radiator types of heaters now that just radiate warmth at very low energy costs. Make sure you don’t have drafts around windows and doors and keep them closed as much as possible unless you are doing your daily airing.

If your floors seem colder than the upper part of the room, and if you have floor vents, you can place deflectors to move the warm air along the floor. Wear warm socks and shoes.

You can enjoy big savings with this one tip. Your water heater (even electric heaters) are energy guzzlers. Unfortunately, there isn’t a programmable thermostat for the water heater, and it is awkward, but, if you turn it up in the morning until everyone has showered etc. and then turn it back to low, or vacation for the rest of the day; turning up for an hour in the evening and back down again, you will enjoy HUGE savings. Imagine this is heating up all day long, way past the time when you need it and it is keeping the same water hot constantly.

Have a good look at your hot water tank. Look at the pipes leading out into the rafter area. If they are bare, you can get some pipe insulation, which comes in round "hose like" lengths. Fit these around all the hot water pipes that are visible.

If you are in a position to replace your water heating system, there are energy efficient units that are terrific. There is just a small, wall unit. When you turn the hot water on, the gas comes on and heats the water as it goes through a coil. When you shut the water off, the gas is turned off. This is the system that has been used in Europe for many years. There is no need to keep a big tank filled with hot water with the gas running all day when units like this are on the market.

If you have rooms where the sun comes in during the day, even on the coldest days the sun warms the indoor air. Be sure to keep all the blinds and drapes open in these rooms and you will find the warmth will remain for quite awhile after the sun goes down.

The Top 7 Reasons Why Women Deny Needing Long Term Care Insurance

Some 80 million baby boomer’s are heading straight for the health care pipeline. Another U.S. citizen is turning 50 every seven seconds and people are living longer than ever before in modern history. What this means is things are about to change. This change will not necessarily be for the better. There is going to be an unprecedented need for extended health care services. No one is ready for the consequences - especially you. With chronic care management on the upswing you could easily live to be 100 even with impaired health. And if you do live this long it might cost you dearly.

Why am I telling you this?

I tell you this because you are in danger and don’t even know it. You are swimming in the financial deep end of the pool and don’t even know it. In reality, seven out of 10 couples will experience a long term care need in their lifetime and most of them will have to pay for care out of their own pockets. This is the first reason why you should educate yourself about long term health care insurance and the number one reason you don’t. Truth be told: you are in denial.

The magic genie will not be coming out of his bottle to rescue you. The hard, cold truth is you will be financing your aging expenses yourself. With outlays running as high as $70,000 a year in 2008 this is nothing to take lightly.

This is more denial and another reason to seriously look at long term care insurance and getting educated about your choices?

One day in the future long term health care insurance will be as typical as automotive or life insurance but for the here and now it’s an unusual idea. It is also an idea no one wants - after all who wants to imagine they’re ever going to need health care assistance. The denial of needing care is thick and lasting.

I bet right now, if I asked you "who do you know who has a long term care need" you could probably come up with a name or two. As for me I can name several. My father who was in a nursing home for 8 months; my Aunt who is in the last stages of Alzheimer’s, my other Aunt who has been diagnosed with Vascular Dementia or Parkinson’s (they aren’t quite sure). If I had asked each of them "will you have a long term care need in your lifetime?" they would have said no. Another reason you don’t have long term care insurance - you deny this is ever going to be your story. The truth is you can’t predict the future.

You may never have a long term care need but in reality seven out of 10 couples do. My father did and my mother hasn’t. My Aunt’s have but my Uncle’s haven’t. This is denial reason number four. You take it for granted that everything is a-okay and will stay that way. The reality is that when a spouse gets sick the other has to start writing the checks and while one bottoms out physically the other bottoms out financially.

I can hear your thoughts - but the government will be helping me; they’ll pay for everything. Yeah, right. The government is slowly bankrupting itself as it is. With over 80 million baby boomer’s headed for retirement the social services are going to be strained on every level, state, federal, county. Furthermore government programs, and Medicare in particular, are not designed to help with the cost of long term care needs. You have a limited number of days of Medicare coverage, lifetime caps and co-pays. If it does pay for long term care you have to be in need of skilled care. The truth is that Medicaid is the largest payor. What is Medicaid? It is medical welfare. How do you get it? You qualify through poverty. You spend your money until you qualify. Reason number five: you deny your risk of entering poverty in order to qualify for government help. Ouch!

XP Fixes For Basic Screen Freezes And Problems

You have been very excited when you first bought your computer. You made sure that you bought the best that your money can buy. So, you got the latest and most expensive computer and you installed Windows XP in it.

For the first few months, you were quiet happy with its performance. Until suddenly, you begin to notice that it’s taking a significant amount of time to open programs or files. You begin to notice that a click on the mouse could trigger a freeze. There are times when your computer would even freeze without any reason. This can be really frustrating especially if the computer tends to freeze and shut down while you’re at the middle of your work. You need to know basic XP fixes to help you deal with the common computer problems.

Causes of Window XP Slow Performance and Freezes

One minute you’re busily typing reports, the next you’re staring at a blue screen. Often, you’d find yourself cursing your computer. The blue screen is often called the Blue Screen of Death. This happens when Windows XP meets up with a system error. This also happens when the computer needs to recover from a serious system error. You could also have the Blue Screen or Death in cases where the operating system fails to recover from a huge error.

Another possible problem that people encounters when using the Internet is the Screen Freeze. The difference between a Screen Freeze and the Blue Screen of Death is that the computer freezes on the page where you’re working. There is no change of solid color to indicate system error. The cause of Screen Freeze is unavailability of RAM. This means that you’d used up your computer’s entire RAM so it has no space left to function.

Everyone also experiences lack of program response. This happens when only one program or two fail to respond to your command but if you click on other programs, the latter would work just fine. This is its difference from Screen Freeze. In Screen Freeze, the entire computer is frozen. It is not in blank blue but it does not respond. All these things require that you know XP fixes to help you deal with the problem without needing to send your computer to professional computer technicians.

How To Brainstorm The Best Teenager Jobs For This Summer

Is your teen looking for a job this summer? Is she dreading having to work at a fast food restaurant and smelling like a grease ball at McDonald’s or Burger King?

Well, thankfully, McDonald’s is not the only teenager job in town. But the best teenager jobs during the summer really depends on your teen.

Here’s how my daughter and I brainstormed the best teenager jobs for her this summer.

First, I asked her to think about…

What does she enjoy doing? What are her interests and hobbies? Or what would she do for free whether she gets paid or not?

My daughter loves horses. She spends countless hours during the summer in the stable…brushing, grooming, cleaning stalls, and of course riding her horse. So it didn’t surprise me when she came up with the idea of getting a horse-related summer job.

And her second choice was swimming. She’s on the high school varsity swim team and even lettered in her sophomore year. So getting a job around water would be a lot of fun too.

Here’s what we came up with for horse-related teenager jobs:

Working at a horse camp

Riding Stable

Stable Help (cleaning, feeding, grooming)

Horse Sitting

Saddle & Tack Shop

And for swimming-related teen jobs:

Lifeguarding

Swim Instructor

YMCA Pool

Summer Swim Camp

Sounds like some pretty fun teen jobs, right?
